1839 Wednesday May 15 |
On the 15th went to enjoy Norma -- |
Friday 17 | & on the 17th to see Zelmina, the first time of its having played here since we arrived, thought some parts excessively beautiful but the Opera on the tame, the scenery was the most magnificent I ever beheld, and was, every time the curtain drew up, deservedly applauded by a tolerably full house, the Queen & King were there during the early part of the evening. Between the two acts of the Opera we had a capital pas de deux by Angelica & Clara. |
Saturday 18 | Took a walk on shore, met the King on horseback attended by his aide de camp & shortly afterwards the Queen in a open carriage in which were 3 maids of honour & saw other kindly hearts in a carriage following the Queens. |
