Immediately after dinner Graham Hamond &
myself started for a pull in the Daisey & after calling alongside
the Daphne for Le Mesurier went on shore & strolled about the Plain
of Troy finding it exessively warm I asked a Greek if he could procure
me a bottle of porter; which he did; I gave him a s5 in payment
expecting change but the rascal pocketted the lot exclaiming "Buona
Buona & Buona" which of course not agreeing with my idea of things
induced to my "Mr.Buona" however talking not appearing to have much
effect upon him, I wish a little of the language of the facts planted
my fist in face & gave him to understand that if he did not down
with the change I would down with his calcas Upon which he quietly
returned some 3 shillings. So much for Greek honesty & integrity.
Having tired ourselves of walking & smoking we pulled off in the
